'Ladderfabriek Martin' was already a well-known ladder manufacturer in Izegem in 1900.

In 1992 Dr. Ir. Philippe Martin developped the unique concept of the glued FRP (fiberglass reinforced polyester) ladder. This technology created the optimal balance between strength, durability and weight.

Extensive innovations resulted that these ladders became the quality reference for FRP ladders in Western Europe.

In 2018 Ladderfabriek Martin 'was taken over by a new team under the name "Staltor NV".

Staltor is a manufacturer of an wide range of ladders, step ladders, platforms, stairs and custom solutions, all in FRP.

For larger constructions, a combination of materials is often offered, such as FRP combined with aluminum or stainless steel.

A range of wooden ladders are also still being produced.
